The main objective to establish this multi-speciality hospital in far-flung district Kupwara which is an aspirational district of the country was to provide speciality care to the people of this district and our armed forces and paramilitary forces at doorstep thus decentralising the tertiary care. It was because of the experience of having worked abroad where healthcare is priority and right of every citizen which our honourable prime minister has promoted in our country, the dream became a reality.

Born in Village Gushi on 1st January 1968 in far-flung district Kupwara from an average family. Parents were illiterate but visionary and gave priority to education of children. Primary education from middle school Gushi and matriculation from High school Karihama with 25 th rank in Jammu and Kashmir Board of school education. Got National merit scholarship and continued my premedical studies from Higher secondary school Kupwara and without any guidance or proper coaching got selected for MBBS on open merit on 17 th rank in 1986 December. Completed my graduation from medical College Srinagar with honours in pathology in 1992 June while availing hostel facilities. Had some tough times during this struggle but remained hostel general secretary and got Scholarship from Islamic development Bank which I returned after completion of my graduation. Meanwhile focused on education of my younger brothers.
After completion of my internship joined as junior resident in prestigious institution of SKIMS in department of medicine. Got selected for post-graduation ahead of my batchmates and was lucky to have been a student of eminent scientist and teacher Prof Mohd Sultan Khuroo who was also head of gastroenterology and Director SKIMS. Completed my post-graduation in medicine in 1997 and three years senior residency in Gastroenterology in 2001 May.
During post-graduation had 5 scientific research publications and was the only candidate eligible for Asst Professor Gastroenterology.
Married in Oct 2000 to Dr Mubeena Akhtar and for unknown reasons ? not getting the faculty position in SKIMS decided to leave the country and got job as consultant physician in one of the reputed hospitals of KSA. Completed my MRCP there in 2005 and joined another hospital in Makkah as consultant Gastroenterologist and internist. That hospital
.Those hospitals were getting accreditation prepration for CBAHI a quality control organisation at that time. The concept of quality in healthcare and and thus patient care made me realise the importance of accountability and practice of evidence based medicine. BLS and ACLS being mandatory for practice and registration was again completed in first year of joining there.
During this period I did training of undergraduate and postgraduate students from Saudi board and Saudi medical students. The authorities encouraged me in all respects and did recognise the merit and in these years I got published scientific research in International journals like British Medical journal and Infectious disease in clinical practice and authored more than 60 scientific publications as first author. The authorities wanted me to be head of emergency department which is busiest in that city due to round the year pilgrimage. For this I did course in advanced trauma life support (ATLS) and though being from medical stream I topped the course and was selected for ATLS instructor course. I managed the emergency department and headed quality control department of the hospital as hospital had to undergo CBAHI accreditation which was successfully done. My postgraduates and graduates were co-authors of scientific research which made them eligible for Canadian and American board scholarship and training.
Getting expertise in treatment of emergency cases, intensive care cases, medicine, gastroenterology and endoscopic interventions and trauma care authorities encouraged me in all respects. Continuous medical education being mandatory i have presented more than 40 topics and participated in more than 50 scientific sessions in different parts of country and world. In March 4th 2008 I wrote in Facebook page that whatever expertise and training I got i wish these services were available to my own community backhome. I got offers of working in Canada and UK but In 2010 I got offer from Bahrain Specialist Hospital, Bahrain as internist and Gastroenterologist. Having worked there for few months the inner thoughts of doing something backhome were haunting me and I left for the country in December 2010.
In 2011 joined medical College Srinagar as contractual consultant but got pain and discomfort because of lack of triage system and medical intensive care as most of the patients referred from far-flung areas of the valley needed intensive care treatment as the main reason of referral. Having seen preventable deaths i was successful in setting up the triage in emergency and medical ICU in SMHS hospital.
But because of not getting enough support i decided to to quit and worked as medical specialist in BSF hospital Humhama. After 4 months only I decided to setup a hospital in my own district Kupwara and decentralise the tertiary care. Bringing specialist care to far-flung district Kupwara was a dream and with my all the earnings abroad and with the help of bank loan through industrial sector I was successful in setting up 50 bed multi-speciality hospital with state of art infrastructure which became fully operational in 2018. I had to put lot of effort and did get lot of difficulties because of administrative empathy. Being committed to my goal we got NABH accredited in July 2023 the first rural based hospital of union territory of Jammu and Kashmir to get accreditation. Hospital is empanelled with PMJAY SEHAT scheme and ECHS and out of three modular operation theatres one is dedicated to our Armed forces in case of any emergency. Process for CGHS empanelment is already ongoing. The super speciality facilities to the people of this Far-flung and aspirational district is now available at doorstep. This is the only private set-up in the district providing Haemodialysis facility to the people of this Far-flung district and thanks to Honourable prime minister of the country who made Ayushman Bharat SEHAT scheme universal for people of union territory of Jammu and Kashmir which has benefitted the people especially poor and who could not afford better healthcare
.The hospital will continue to upgrade the infrastructure and quality of service and we are satisfied to provide 78 skilled and unskilled workers job opportunities and source of bread to their families. Hospital held community outreach programs in 2023 and 2024 in areas of tough terrains and to poor and educationally backward people of district Kupwara like Shranth lolab, Thyan kalaroos, Keran, Tangdar, Manzpather chowkibal, Behnipora Rajwar . The outreach programs were for screening and giving free treatment and making awareness about education and healthcare in addition to PMJAY sehat scheme which is poor and public friendly.
